itap Institut für technische und angewandte Physik GMBH

company

The company itap GmbH

Science in the service of humans and enviroment

Graduates from the University of Oldenburg founded the Institute of Technical and Applied Physics (ITAP) in 1992. As the demand for technical-scientific services rose, the institute was transferred into an independent limited liability company in 1995. For a long time, the company was an associate institute of the University of Oldenburg.

Meanwhile, the company can look on 25 years business experience, during which new areas of activity opened up constantly. Over time, different physical problems were dealt with; the focus however always was in the field of technical acoustics. To be named hereby in particular: our sustainable activities in the field of immission control as well as our pioneering role in the investigation of underwater sound with the aim to protect marine life.

Because the demand constantly rose, the itap GmbH grew especially in the last years significantly. Within the scope of our cooperation with the Jade Hochschule Oldenburg, we regularly provide guest lecturers for the lecture “Technical Acoustics” within the study programme “Hearing Technology & Audiology”. Furthermore, the study programme regularly uses our own reverberation room for practical courses in reverberation period measurements.

Modern, own developed underwater sound technology

Hydro-acoustic online monitoring with radio transmission

Hydroacoustic online-monitoring with radio transmission

For conducting state-of-the-art monitoring of underwater sound, the itap GmbH has developed an own, efficient measuring system. This mainly consists of an underwater measuring unit with hydrophone and a cable, leading to a transmitter buoy and a receiver placed at a sufficient distance on a vessel.
