On behalf of the Neart Na Gaoithe Offshore Wind Limited, the itap GmbH has carried out a comprehensive underwater noise monitoring in the removal of old ammunition in the OWF Neart Na Gaoithe. Old ammunition with a TNT-equivalent mass of up to 102 kg was detonated. Underwater noise measurements were successfully performed at distances between 1.4 to 33 km from the respective detonation. The concept for the noise monitoring was developed in coordination with Marine Scotland, SMRU Consulting, National Physical Laboratory (NPL) and Loughborough University. Based on the data collected, site-specific and project-specific factors influencing the noise input into the water during detonations could be identified. All measurement results will be incorporated into the funded project "Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy" (BEIS).
